QA Manual Test Lead
Ascendum

Ascendum is looking for a talented QA Lead to join our team of skilled information systems and technology consultants in the Blue Ash, Ohio area.

Overview:

The Software Quality Engineer is responsible for designing and engineering the test cases and process for development projects.  The Engineer will support new quality assurance programs and processes in alignment with PMO/QA strategy.  This includes providing feedback on artifact quality developed during requirements and analysis phases within IS&S projects as well as performing test execution and assisting with product metrics reporting for both project and support related activities.

 

Rules-Based Pricing project:  existing RBP application shares code base and hardware with another related application.  Due to scalability concerns, hardware is being upgraded and code bases are being separated.  No new functionality involved at this time.  Java-based web application(s) with integration into many other systems, including some older mainframe applications. 

 

Job Description:

The Quality Lead is responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining new quality assurance programs, teams, and processes in alignment with PMO/QA strategy.  This includes: 1) provide feedback on artifact quality developed during requirements and analysis phases within IS&S projects, 2) implement test planning, test execution, and product metrics reporting for both project and support related activities.

 

Essential functions:

·         Lead the development and execution of quality processes to improve the quality of production software.

·         Review and contribute to development of artifacts, according to PLC artifact approval matrix.

·         Provide leadership to testers, has complete responsibility and accountability for delivery of project tasks assigned to the QA team.

·         Prepare the system test plans, oversees their execution and reports on the results.

·         Participate in defects prioritization and lead re-testing activities.

·         Develop, track, analyze, and communicate test-related metrics to project stakeholders.

·         Identify and lead implementation of software quality metrics that results in improvement initiatives.

·         Develop and maintain good relationships with project team

·         Manage test services for support activity and works with release management to assure product release quality

·         Interact with the PMO/QA Department to:

o   Assess quality and test process maturity level and assist in defining strategy to implement best practices.

o   Identify test automation opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of test services

o   Identify test outsourcing / offshoring opportunities to improve efficiency of test services

o   Help PMO / QA develop, implement and maintain quality and test procedures, processes and best practices

 

Job Requirements:

  • Test Plan creation
  • Manual Test Case Creation
  • Manual Test Execution
  • Software Quality Metrics (analysis and reporting)
  • Defect Reporting
  • Experience with HP/Mercury Quality Center / Test Director
  • Experience with bug tracking tools such as Quality Center, ClearQuest, Bugzilla
  • Prior experience in retailing applications
  • Prior experience in testing of web-based applications
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, including root-cause analysis
  • Automated Testing Experience
  • Experience with HP/Mercury Quick Test Pro or other functional test automation tools
  • Prior experience in designing, creating, executing, and reporting results of automated functional testing
  • Understanding of risk assessment and risk management procedures
  • Decision making and conflict resolution skills
