SOA Middleware Specialist
Ascendum

Ascendum is seeking a talented SOA Middleware Specialist to join our team of skilled information systems and technology consultants in the Greater Cincinnati area.

Overview: The SOA Middleware Specialist would work closely with member of the SOA Middleware team to implement solutions that meet the given requirements. This individual along with other members of the team would be responsible for the availability and performance of each of the environments supported by the team. This involves problem resolution as well as tuning of the environment.

Responsibilities: Maintain the stability and availability of the SOA application infrastructure including the Actional and Sonic ESB products from Progress

• Deployment of ESB orchestrations, including tracking and monitoring of all assets in the middleware environments

• Collaboration with developers in the design and implementation of services and orchestrations within the middleware environment

• Optimize the environment for scalability and performance, including sizing, tuning and monitoring of these environments

• Enforcement of security policies for access to web services developed by multiple providers

• Contribute to the ongoing improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the operations through process and automation opportunities.

• Adhere to established process/procedural standards.

• Learn new software tools and skills as needed.

• Establish an open relationship with customers, teammates, and other members of the organization.

• Keep open verbal and electronic communications with all areas concerning reporting and resolution of issues.

• Document issues and their resolution in appropriate forums.

• Provide accurate and timely management status and time reporting.

• Participate with management to complete performance plans and performance results in a timely manner. Qualifications: The individual would also be heavy involved in the upgrading of the environment based on new release of the Actional Intermediary and Sonic ESB software. This involvement would include evaluation as well as planning the upgrade.

Experience:

• 5-7 years in systems administration and/or systems development

• At least 2 years experience with Unix or equivalent operating systems

• Understanding of SOA architectures

• Experience with Actional Intermediary (7.2 or higher) or Sonic ESB (7.5 or higher) or another ESB a plus

• Working knowledge of XML, JMS, and Java a plus Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science or Information Systems (or equivalent experience).
